Dolomites Winter

I undertook an expedition in Dolomites, Italy in early March 2024. With my guide Alessandro, we successfully climbed to the 3152 meters Piz Boé Peak, which is one of the highest peaks in Dolomites region. Climbing Piz Boé Peak is not a particularly technic task in other seasons; but in winter, the situation is quite different, deep snow and avalanche risk were two major factors we had to carefully consider.

We had a small window for this plan, after two days severe storm, we had one good weather for this climb. We reached the summit early afternoon, then from the late afternoon and overnight, it started to snow again. Luckily, the weather was improved next day, and we safely descended.
